For those of you who don’t know about this already, you have access to a ginormous library of recorded music online via the Naxos Music Library, available through the BSU Library web site. Naxos is a quality budget CD label, but the library includes additional labels beyond the Naxos brand.
Follow the Articles and Databases link on the BSU Library home page. Select “N”, and then the “Naxos Music Library” link. It opens a new window/tab in your browser.
You can search Naxos for any combination of composer, title, and/or performer, or even by the CD label catalog number. Click on a listing in your search results and a popup window will appear (be sure to enable popups for the site) with a track listing that you can select from. Choose “play selections” and audio will start streaming.
When you are done listening to recordings, be sure to log out of the site. There are a limited number of simultaneous connections possible. Even though you never logged in if you were on campus, the BSU library still logged you in.
The NML works for Windows and Mac, although on the Mac you’ll probably need the Flip4Mac Quicktime plugin, a free download from http://flip4mac.com.
