Given the unforeseen changes to our end-of-session meetings, I am proposing a short final project.
Due 6/15/13, by 11:59 pm (since I don’t know if Midnight belongs to the day before or the day after). You should compress/zip your project folder, upload it to iLocker (or Dropbox, or some similar online accessible storage), and email me the link.
Create an approximately 1-minute project (with some leeway to duration) that demonstrates a creative command of synthesis and MIDI. Use Absynth to create your sounds, and Digital Performer to sequence them. You can also use musique concrète sounds processed in Cecilia and SoundHack.
You should
- create 2-3 synthesis programs in Absynth that have some flexibility in performance,
- use DP to sequence the sounds, process the sounds with effects plugins, and record/mix your performance,
- and bounce your final DP mix to a stereo audio file.
Your final project to turn in will consist of
- Your DP project folder, and all DP files.
- Your Absynth program files, stored in an Absynth folder within the DP project folder. (These files will most likely be a copy of the files you have backed up.)
- Your final stereo audio mix.
You will be graded on
- the quality/creativity of your Absynth sounds,
- your creativity in sequencing those sounds in DP,
- your use of MIDI CC data and DP mix automation data to control the sounds,
- and the overall quality of the final mix.
