The first quiz is on 2/5. It should take about 25 minutes, so we will have class following the quiz.
From Listening List 1, know title of work, composer’s last name, and year composed.
From the Chapter 5 reading, be able to list 3 of the 7 fundamental traits of electronic music, and provide a brief explanation for each as needed.
Know the physical and perceptual properties of audio, and how they relate to each other. For example, we perceive the physical property of frequency as pitch. Also know how we perceive physical properties in general (exponentially).
Know the fundamental aspects of analog and digital recording and reproduction.
Know digital audio properties (SR, Nyquist Frequency, bit resolution, and how they affect recording/reproduction quality).
Know the essential music concrete techniques.
